2012 Primetime Emmy Nominations


The nominations for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced earlier today in Hollywood. The Big Bang Theory received five nominations at this year's Emmy awards.

The Big Bang Theory received its second consecutive nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. The other shows nominated this year are HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, HBO's Girls, HBO's Veep, NBC's 30 Rock and ABC's Modern Family.

Jim Parsons received his fourth consecutive nomination for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category. Parsons has won the award for the last two years. The other contenders for the award are Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiam), Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), Louis C.K. (Louie), Don Cheadle (House of Lies) and Alec Baldwin (30 Rock).

Mayim Bialik was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler. This is the actress's first Emmy nomination. She faces competition from Merrit Wever (Nurse Jackie), Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live), the late Kathryn Joosten (Desperate Housewives), Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara (both Modern Family).

The Big Bang Theory's crew also received two further Emmy nominations in the Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Series and Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series categories.

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place September 23 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the event, which will be broadcast on ABC.
