CBS has announced the details of episode 3.17, “The Precious Fragmentation“, which will air March 8th.

“The Precious Fragmentation” – When the guys find a ring from “The Lord of the Rings” at a garage sale, it threatens to tear them apart, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, March 8 (9:31-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

You can find more information about the episode in our Episode Guide. A rerun of “The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary“, the first episode with Wil Wheaton, will air March 15th.

Wil Wheaton is to return as Sheldon’s nemesis in an upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory. The Star Trek: Next Generation actor guest starred earlier this season in an episode that saw a ratings spike and generated a lot of on-line interest.

Bill Prady, co-creator of The Big Bang Theory, expressed his desire for Wheaton to return during an interview with TV Guide Magazine. Wheaton explains on his blog that he had known the appearance was possible for about a week, but found out it was official earlier today. The episode will be taped March 2nd.

Amazon.com are now taking pre-orders for the Season 3 DVD and Blu-Ray. A Best Buy promotion earlier this week revealed the planned releases, tentatively set for September 7th.

The DVD is available for pre-order at Amazon for $31.49, quite a bit less than Best Buy’s price. The Blu-Ray can be pre-ordered for $41.99, also lower than Best Buy.

Warner Bros have not confirmed the September 7th release date, so it’s possible that date will change. Amazon are not yet listing a street date on their pre-order pages.

There is no word yet on whether the previous two seasons will be released on Blu-Ray, or whether high definition releases will occur outside of the United States and Canada.

The Big Bang Theory: Season 3 could be coming to US DVD and Blu-Ray this September 7th, according to listings on BestBuy.com.

The show has until now been released only on DVD, not on Blu-Ray. Warner Bros have yet to confirm the Region 1 street date or the Blu-Ray release.

Season 3 will land on DVD in the United Kingdom on September 27th. It can be pre-ordered now at Amazon.co.uk. It is not known whether a Blu-Ray edition will be released in the UK.
