NF: There are several actors considered method actors. They actually become the character they perform in a movie or play. Do you consider yourself a method actor? In other words, are there any similarities between the person you play in front of the camera and the real Kaley? Or do you actually transform completely into the person you’re supposed to be at that given time? I.e., do we get to see less of Kaley and more of the character you’re supposed to be or vice versa?
KC: I always try to incorporate myself into all my characters. But I’m not a method actor.
NF: Obviously all actors need to prepare for their roles. Could you describe us how you prepare? Do you seek help from family, friends or other actors to prepare for a role? Do you perform research on subjects regarding the role? In short, could you tell us what you actually do to get yourself fully prepared for a role?
KC: If a role is extensive and requires research, I will do some research on the character and usually go over lines with a coach or a friend. Most of my roles have been pretty straightforward and I haven’t had to do much research.
NF: We’ve read a lot of stories about you meeting fans and all of them were very positive. The people telling these stories considered meeting you very inspiring and that made us wonder how you feel about meeting fans in general? Could you also tell us about the most inspiring fan meeting you’ve experienced so far? If for some reason you can’t, could you tell us what would make a fan meeting very inspiring to you?
KC: I love it when I get the opportunity to meet my fans! They are all so sweet and so supportive it’s nice to be able to show them that I care. Amy and I are usually hanging out together so when people see the both of us, they automocatically recognize us and come up and say hello. It’s really rewarding and makes me feel good about what I do.
NF: It’s obvious you’re a star on the rise with a down to Earth attitude. We really love you for that, it’s one of the reasons why we’re very big fans! However, the movie industry tends to influence people, but this clearly hasn’t happened to you. Could you explain us how you managed to stay exactly like you were before getting famous? Aren’t you at all influenced by the glitter and glamour Hollywood offers?
KC: You just have to realize that you are the same as everyone else and that we are all people. I am close with my family and they keep me grounded. I’m not influenced in a negative way by Hollywood. Hollywood is fun.
NF: You used to model before you started acting. We all know a lot of people are cynical about models becoming actors. What we’re curious about is why you decided to make this career change. Did you feel the need to prove models can become great actors? Or did you feel acting was a more interesting career to pursue? In other words, what was the main reason for the career change? We’re also very curious if you met any prejudices after changing careers. Did you ever experience any form of prejudice when people knew you were a model before you started acting?
KC: I’ve always wanted to act and being a model was an easy jump for me.
NF: As with many other actors you probably admire and study the work of other fellow actors. Surely they have played roles you would like to play yourself. Could you tell us about a role you would absolutely love to play, but was already done by somebody else? And why? Could you also tell us about actors you really admire and why?
KC: I would love to do a serious drama. Something really dark so that people can see me in a way they haven’t seen me yet. I really admire Jennifer Anniston. She is my favorite!
NF: Every actor plays roles he/she finds interesting or worth exploring. We’re very curious about the criteria you use to decide whether you should perform a role or not. In other words, what makes you decide a role is perfect for you and worth working on? Could you also tell us why you decided to play the roles you’ve done so far? Was there a special reason for playing the characters you’ve played so far?
KC: I like to find roles that challenge me and are different then the last role I played. If a role isn’t challenging, I won’t do it. I really like to be able to stretch my limits as an actress.
